Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, USA declared the year 1999 as "India HeritageYear". During this year, the Bhavan organized different events to project various aspects of Indian culture and heritage in the U.S.A. These events were in the form of Music festivals, Dance Recitals, Lecture series, children’s events, conferences on Aurveda, etc. with a view to bidding farewell the 20th century and to offering a grand welcome to the 21st Century.

Jointly organized by Consulate General of India and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan
at the New India House , 3 East 64th St., New York City on Saturday 30, January 1999 ; 10:00 a.m.
Salient features of the program
are :
Singing of bhajans(devotional songs)
Recitation of poems on Mahatma in differrent Indian languages with English traslation
A Tribute to the Mahatma by Smt.Shashi Tripathi,Consul General of India.
