Topic: DESIRE - Friend or Foe
Vedanta presents a masterly analysis of the human personality. The ancient rishis visualised the state of Perfection, identified desire as the main obstacle, and prescribed methods of overcoming it. Thus every ordinary person could transform into an extraordinary, majestic being.
On the face of it desire seems to be a friend. Desire is a force to reckon with. No achievement is possible without desire. Yet desire reduces you to a weak shadow of yourself. Desire makes you dependent and unhappy. It prevents enjoyment and unsettles the mind. All religions portray desire as the barrier between human hood and Godhood.
Vedanta helps reduce desires, upgrade them and change their direction to enable you to become Atmavan - Spirit incarnate. Then the world is at your command!
