Sad Demise
Mahamahopadhyaya Professor J.H.Dave Saheb passes away
We are grieved to inform you that one of Bhavan's founders and closest associates of Kulapati Munshiji. Mahamahopadhyay Prof. J.H. Dave passed away in the early hours of the morning of the 9 th January. He was 99. The Honorary Director and the Head of all the Sanskrit Institutes and activities of Bhavan for the past 70 years, Dave saheb was a internationally recognized authority on Dharmashastras and Hindu Law.
Author of 42 books, Member of the Sanskrit Commission, Government of India, Hon. Secretary of the Sanskrit Vishwa Parishad and Editor of all the Sanskrit and Research journals of Bhavan, Dave saheb was a Maharishi, who gave away his everything in the service of Indian Culture in general and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in particular. When Bhavan recently passed through a difficult period of time, Dave saheb stood by the Bhavan like a rock of Gibraltar. Dave saheb's commitment to Bhavan was so total that after the demise of his wife, Prof. Tarulatabehn two years ago, he refused to settle down in the USA with his son and daughter in order to continue to serve the Bhavan till the end.
Though he was 99 and had a glorious death. We are stunned at the very thought of the Bhavan without Dave saheb. The blessings of the Maharishi will always be with us.

Bhavan's Chairman of Kolkata Center, Dr. Pratap Chandra Chunder passed away
With deep sorrow we would like to inform you that our respected Chairman, Dr. Pratap Chandra Chunder passed away at 12.30 p.m. on Tuesday January 1, 2008. It is a great loss to all the members of the bhavan's family. He was an extra ordinary person and has been responsible for the development of the Bhavan in the eastern sector.
